LATEST NEWS [8/18/2004]: IceWMCP version 3.2 is now available. This release patches bugs that many users of Python 2.3 experienced. Support has been added for the latest features of IceWM 1.2.14 / 1.2.15. A French translation has been added, and the Russian translation has been updated. The IceMe menu editor now saves non-English characters in the menu file correctly. IceWMCP Wallpaper is tool for managing the desktop background and wallpaper under IceWM. The application features on-demand previewing of all wallpapers (preview the wallpaper as 'centered', or 'tiled' right in the application), and a comfortable user interface. As of IceWM Control Panel version 0.2, IceWMCP Wallpaper supports drag-and-drop displaying and setting of desktop wallpaper. Simply drag an image file (from your file manager or other application) onto the 'preview' window in IceWMCP Wallpaper. It's that easy!

HELP: IceWM Control Panel (IceWMCP) Wallpaper

Overview
The IceWM Control Panel (IceWMCP) Wallpaper tool allows you to easily configure your desktop's background color and wallpaper image .

Setting the Desktop Background Color
To set your desktop's background color, click the 'color button' or the 'folder' button in the Desktop Color area at the top of the main window . Select the color of your choice, then click 'OK' . You should now see a 'preview' of the color you have selected on the 'color button' itself . If you wish to cancel any changes to the color, click the 'Cancel' button .

Setting the Desktop Wallpaper Image
To set your desktop's wallpaper image, click the 'folder' button in the area named Directory on the right side of the main window . Select the directory containing the wallpaper image you wish to use, then click 'OK' . On the left side of the main window, select the wallpaper image you wish to use from the list available in the Image window . (If you wish to use NO wallpaper image at all, select [NONE] from the top of the Image list.) You should now see a 'preview' of the wallpaper image in the large 'preview window' on the right side of the main window . If you want your wallpaper image to tile repeatedly across the screen, select 'Tiled' , just above the 'preview window' . If you want the image to be centered on the desktop, select 'Centered' , just above the 'preview window' . If you want the image to be scaled to the screen size, select 'Scaled' , just above the 'preview window' . (Note: Scaling of images is currently EXPERIMENTAL in IceWM.)

Editing Wallpaper Images
To edit a wallpaper image, click the 'Edit' button to the right of your screen . (The 'Edit' button has a picture of 'pencil and paper' .) The wallpaper image will then be opened for editing with the executable 'gimp-remote' if 'gimp-remote' is available on your system's $PATH .

Reloading Images
To see an updated list of available images from the directory you have selected in the Directory area, click the Reload Images button, to the lower left of the main window . The updated list will appear in the Image area .

Applying Changes
To apply any changes you have made to the desktop background color or wallpaper image, click the Apply button at the bottom of the main window, or press Ctrl+A on your keyboard . If you wish to apply your changes and exit , click the Ok button on the bottom left of the main window .

Cancelling Changes
To cancel any changes you have made to the desktop background color or wallpaper image, click the Close button on the bottom right of the main window .

Run As Root
If you are the 'root' user and wish to edit the system-wide wallpaper configuration, select File -> Run As Root on the menu .

Exiting the Program
To exit the program, click File -> Exit on the menu, or press Ctrl+Q on your keyboard . You may also exit the program by clicking the Close button on the bottom right of the main window .

Checking for New Versions of the Software
To check for a newer version of the program click File -> Check for newer versions of this program.. . on the menu, or press Ctrl+U on your keyboard . This feature requires a working connection to the internet .

Launching Random Programs
You may launch a random program on your system by clicking File -> Run.. . on the menu, or press Ctrl+R on your keyboard .

Reporting Problems
You may report problems using this software by clicking Help -> Send A Bug Report.. . on the menu, or press F5 on your keyboard . You will be shown detailed instructions to guide you through the short process .
