IceWM Control Panel: IceMe
Screenshots   Help

IceMe is a GREAT Gtk-based menu editor for IceWM. It is THE most lightweight, stable, and user-friendly IceWM menu editor currently available. It is NOT written by me. It was originally written by Dirk Moebius (dmoebius@gmx.net), now maintained by Mike Hostetler (thehaas@binary.net). Copyright 2000-2002 by Dirk Moebius and Mike Hostetler. IceMe is integrated into the IceWM Control Panel under the terms of the General Public License. You should visit the official IceMe project page for more detailed information on this tool (you will also find the latest source code there): http://iceme.sourceforge.net

Currently, IceWM Control Panel includes a Special Edition version of IceMe 1.0.0. Many may be wondering while IceWM Control Panel uses IceMe 1.0.0 (IceWMCP Special Edition), when version 1.1.1 of IceMe is available. Well, I personally tested IceMe 1.1.1 and found several bugs in the software, namely several start-up problems, violent crashes when images failed to load, problems reading menu files with menu entries outside of the 'Programs' area, and writing of corrupted menu files due to misreading of the menu. I did not feel that the latest release of IceMe (1.1.1) was stable enough for inclusion in the latest IceWM Control Panel. Instead, I included the IceMe 'Special Edition', which has many of the new features of the latest IceMe, with the stability of IceMe 1.0.0. IceMe 'IceWMCP Special Edition' is a modified version, not created or endorsed by the current maintainer of the official IceMe software. See the 'CHANGES' file for a list of the features, changes, and improvements in the 'Special Edition' of IceMe included in IceWM Control Panel.

SCREEN SHOTS

IceMe's main menu editing window, IceWMCP Special Edition, with larger fonts and icons, and drag-n-drop support for icons. In addition, the IceWMCP Special Edition of IceMe contains a completely redesigned, more modern-looking toolbar, with more colorful, more distinctive icons.   [CLICK IMAGE TO ENLARGE]

IceMe Special Edition's new smoother icon selection dialog, with larger icons for higher visibility, larger window, and a cleaner 'flat' look.   [CLICK IMAGE TO ENLARGE]

IceMe Special Edition allows you to also configure the style and behavior of your IceWM menus using an embedded version of the IcePref2 Menu module. (IceWMCP versions 3.1 and later)   [CLICK IMAGE TO ENLARGE]

IceMe Special Edition uses a more user-friendly shortcut key editor (IceWMCPKeyEdit), instead of the built-in key editor that comes with with orignal IceMe. IceWMCPKeyEdit is part of the IceWM Control Panel project and is now part of the IceWMCPKeyboard module.   [CLICK IMAGE TO ENLARGE]
